IMM is dedicated to helping support the new generation from youth to adulthood, and has run a mentoring programme in weekend Arabic schools for the past few years. Growing up can be challenging at the best of times but as young Muslims or Iraqis in the UK, the challenge can be that much greater. Having an avenue to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe and non-judgemental environment can be crucial in helping to empower young people and having an older mentor can help nurture confidence and expand horizons.
IMM, with the support of MOSAIC, has delivered a professionally-run mentoring programme in several weekend Arabic schools in North West London since 2008. We work closely with parents and teachers to identify those children with most need and ensure our work is open and transparent with the child’s interests at heart.
The programme has been a great success, engaging dozens of children and expanding year on year. We are always looking for interested mentors so if you are a university student, recent graduate or young professional and looking to help nurture the next generation we’d love to have you on board. A limited commitment on your part can go a long way to helping a young person navigate a challenging period in their life.
